Toronto; 08 August 2014 — Phoenix Canada Oil Company Limited (TSXV: PCO & OTC BB:PHXCF) announced an expanded program for the commercially sustainable development of its proprietary catalytic Synfuel™ technology. In addition to carbon dioxide capture and conversion, the Synfuel™ system generates a low to nil pollution alternative to crude petroleum-refined liquid transportation fuels which includes light end jet fuel and kerosene, medium end gasoline and heavy end diesel fuel. Under the supervision of University of Ottawa Professors Drs. F. Handan Tezel, Vice Dean (Research), and Dr. Elena Baranova, a principal researcher in the conversion of captured carbon dioxide to carbon monoxide as the basic foundation of the catalytic Reverse Water Gas Shift (RWGS) reaction which generates economic carbon capture systems. The new Phoenix RWGS system minimizes greenhouse gas emissions, reduces dependence on politically unstable foreign oil sources, provides an innovative way to store continually available hydrogen resources, and yields fuels chemically identical to crude oil-based production.
Don Moore, Phoenix President, suggests that “with current world oil consumption now over 90-million barrels per day, and growing steadily, each billion barrel oil discovery covers less than 12 days of current world oil consumption. The recent widely publicized shale oil and gas developments may not provide an answer since these reservoirs are now reporting accelerating production decline rates requiring continuing multi-billion dollar in-fill drilling programs to maintain their current output. The augmenting of conventional hydrocarbon fuels with the Phoenix Synfuel™ alternative may well be considered essential for the survival of our civilization, as we now know it.”
The Phoenix proprietary Synfuel™ production technology describes the compounding of hydrogen with captured carbon emissions, both components available from widely diverse sources.
